Shark Coast Tactical Dealer
in North Texas

Lead Heads in Saginaw carries one of the deepest Shark Coast Tactical collections in North Texas. Hand-finished guns you can handle before you buy, and that nobody else at the range will have.

Who Shark Coast Tactical Is, and Why We Buy So Much of Their Work

Shark Coast Tactical builds guns in Sarasota, Florida, under founder Will Meade. Pick up one of their AR-platform builds and you will find Shark Coast Customs Inc. roll-marked on the receiver, along with the SCT-15 designation.

They work in two directions:

  • Some guns they build outright on their own receivers.
  • Others start life as a Glock, a Sig, a Taurus, or a Mossberg and come back wearing in-house Cerakote and laser engraving no factory would ever approve.

That is where the Sneeky Pete integrally suppressed pistols and the Hammerhead AOW come from.

The finishes go on by hand in small batches. Runs do not come out identical, and most patterns never repeat at any scale.

Which is exactly why we buy from them as heavily as we do. Their owner has told us we are the number one buyer outside of a distributor in the country, and that gets us first look at runs the big online retailers never see. On top of what they build, we commission our own engraving and plating. A limited edition of ten thousand is not limited. If you are going to spend real money on a gun that looks like nothing else, it should not be sitting on a shelf in four other states.

Browsing and Buying

We don’t sell guns online. Everything here is what’s actually in the shop, so look through it, then call us or send an inquiry from the gun’s own page and we’ll go from there. The form tells us which one caught your eye. We check that inbox daily, and the phone is faster if you want an answer today.

Suppressed and short-barreled builds are the exception. Those carry a federal tax stamp and a wait measured in months, and we handle the filing and the pickup in-house rather than sending you elsewhere. [More on how transfers and NFA items work here.]

Not knowing what one of these should actually cost

Custom and plated work carries real cost. Gold plating is expensive, nickel less so but still not free, and intricate engraving takes hours of someone’s time. We would rather explain where the money goes than let you guess at it. Buying Shark Coast in the volume we do is also what keeps this pricing competitive instead of boutique. And if you tell us what you actually want the gun for and the flashy one is not it, you will hear that from us. We have talked more people out of spending money than into it.

The same gun turning up cheaper online

Sometimes it will be. Then you still need an FFL to receive it, you pay that transfer fee, and the gap closes to almost nothing. The real difference is that you bought a finish you had only seen as a photograph. Cerakote shading and distressing look different under room light than they do on a white background, and on one-off pieces that matters. We run transfers at our own counter, so even if you find one somewhere else, the paperwork and the pickup still happen here.

Wanting to handle one before you spend that kind of money

You are welcome to pick up any of them, and welcome to do it without buying anything. Taylor tells people who wander in killing time to handle whatever they have never seen before, and he means it.

Visitors from California, Australia, and England do exactly that, because guns like these are not something they can see where they live. A photograph flattens a hand-drawn Cerakote pattern. Holding one over the case is the only way to know whether a teal rifle is a novelty to you or the one you actually want.

The Shark Coast Collection at Lead Heads

The Anime Series

Every Anime finish is hand-drawn line work laid over a solid base color, which is why no two receivers come out quite the same. It runs across rifles and carry pistols alike, so a look you like on a rifle is usually available on something you can actually holster.

The Bug Series

Most "pink guns" are a colored slide bolted to a stock frame and nothing more. The Bug builds are engraved into the frame itself and then finished to match the slide, and they are built on compact pistols you would genuinely carry. What rotates is the pattern and the color, not the quality of the work underneath.

AR Pistol Bundles

The bundled AR pistols arrive with the optic and weapon light already mounted, which is money most buyers end up spending after the fact anyway. The finishes change as stock moves, but the build underneath stays the same, so what you are choosing between is mostly the color.

Suppressed and NFA Builds

Anything suppressed or short-barreled is an NFA item, which means a federal tax stamp and a wait measured in months before you take it home. We hold a Class III SOT, so your paperwork and your pickup both happen at our counter instead of getting handed off somewhere else. Which specific builds are on hand changes, but that process does not.

Shark Coast Tactical FAQs!

What is Shark Coast Tactical?

A firearms builder and retailer in Sarasota, Florida, founded by Will Meade. They build complete guns on their own receivers, roll-marked Shark Coast Customs Inc., and they also rework host guns from makers like Glock and Sig with in-house Cerakote and laser engraving. Their better-known pieces include the Sneeky Pete suppressed pistols and the Hammerhead AOW. Finishes go on by hand in small batches, so no two runs come out quite the same.

Where are Shark Coast Tactical guns made?

Sarasota, Florida. Their AR-platform receivers carry the Shark Coast Customs Inc. roll mark along with the SCT-15 designation and the Sarasota address. On the pistols, the host gun still comes from its original maker, so a Glock frame is made where Glock makes it, and Shark Coast does the Cerakote and engraving work in Florida before it ships out.

Can I buy the same gun online for less?

Sometimes, though once you add the transfer fee at whatever FFL receives it, the gap usually closes to very little. The bigger difference is that you bought a finish you had only seen as a photograph. Hand-applied Cerakote reads differently under real light than it does on a white studio background, and on small-run pieces that variation is the whole point. We also run transfers at our own counter if you do buy elsewhere.

Will the finish hold up, or is it basically paint?

Cerakote is not paint. It is what we use on our own custom work because it stands up to the heat a gun generates and to the solvents used to clean one, which ordinary coatings do not. Engraving and plating go into the metal rather than sitting on top of it. Normal carry wear will still show over the years, the same as it does on any finish.

Can you get a model you don't have in the case?

Often, yes. We buy from Shark Coast heavily enough to see runs that never reach the big online retailers, and we can usually ask for a specific finish. We also commission our own engraving and plating rather than ordering factory limited editions. If you describe what you are picturing, we can tell you honestly whether it is something we can source.
